I’ve always loved Rimmel products, just because they are so affordable and pretty darn good for a high street make up brand. I used to use Rimmel products religiously, whether it was their foundations, lipsticks, eyeshadows and their trusty Stay Matte Powder, Rimmel was my go to. However, since experimenting and turning to the more expensive make up brands out there, I kind of forgot about this brand, until I went into Boots and rekindled my love for the brand. I purchased a few new items and tried and tested them, to see if Rimmel still lived up to my expectations…
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Concealer
I’ve been using liquid concealer for quite some time now, but after seeing lots of other bloggers loving this concealer I thought it would only be fair to give it a go. My first impressions of it, was that it looked quite waxy , thick and how the hell was I meant to apply it properly?! The consistency of this concealer is like this, because it is a camouflage concealer, therefore it’s designed to hide all imperfections, blemishes and dark circles and any other bits you don’t want on show! Although quite waxy, the product is very lightweight and, to my surprise, easy to apply, just rubbing it in between your fingers helps a lot! I find that it does cover up imperfections extremely well and it doesn’t smudge throughout the day, which means your face stays pretty much imperfection free, as it’s a great heavy coverage. I got this concealer in the lightest shade, but I realised they only had three shades to choose from, which I thought was disappointing. I will definitely be purchasing this concealer again as it’s great for covering those dark circles and brightens up your eyes really well.
Rimmel – Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick – Shade 16
I think that the Kate Moss lipstick selection is incredible as it has so many shades to suit any skin tone. I picked up this one in shade 16, which is a pinky coral colour which I thought was great, now that we’re heading into Summer. It is incredibly pigmented and manages to last through a 9-5 work day! I’m so used to wearing
Matte lipsticks, that this feels like such a treat to wear, as it has a great sheen to it, that makes your lips look so soft and moisturised. I also really love the packaging, it’s so simple but feminine and it doesn’t look like it’s a drugstore lipstick?! I love all of Kate Moss’s lipsticks, so I will definitely be checking out the other shades in the range.
Rimmel London Colourist Mascara
Okay, so when I saw this I was very dubious as I wasn’t quite sure whether that a mascara at this low cost, could tint your lashes over time? I’ve been trying this for just over a week now, and I can see that my eyelashes do appear darker, not drastically, but it’s there. The tapered brush really helps to get your lashes look longer and fuller but it doesn’t make your lashes look clumpy, which I think is great! It has helped my eyelashes look incredibly natural and dark, without the repeated coating. Just one sweep and you’re done! I think this is partly because my eyelashes are looking a bit darker, so it’s not a gimmick, it really does work! This is now my absolute favourite mascara and I would recommend to anyone that has naturally fair and light eyelashes as you will see the results within a week.
Rimmel Sculpting Palette by Kate
I must admit, I used to contour on a daily basis, but recently I’ve just opted not to do it as it is pretty time consuming, especially when you’re rushing about in the morning! I was so excited about this product when I saw it, as it contains a highlight, contour and blush, which are all in soft shades, that I knew would be perfect for my skin. I like the fact that they all come in a handy palette, so you don’t need to route around for the perfect blusher or highlight to go with your contour, as these are all in complementing shades, already picked for you. I find that these really blend in with my skin tone. It’s also really buildable, so if you want to go for a bolder, structured contour, then this is perfect for nights out and dressed up occasions. The blusher is in a really soft, subtle pink which gives you an effortlessly natural look, and the contour is incredibly light and cool toned, making it great for pale skin. I’m not entirely sure about the highlight, as it’s not as pigmented as I would want a highlight to be, but it does add a soft shimmer that really works with the rest of the colours. The packaging is also incredible, and has beautiful rose gold detailing, which makes it look like a much more expensive product! I think this would be great for anyone that is new to contouring, as all the colours are very cool toned, and gives a stunning natural look.
Has anyone else tried Rimmel’s latest products? What’s your favourite?
Lots of Love,
