Summer Holiday Essentials – Part 1

Summer Holiday Essentials – Part 1

Before I start, I’d just like to mention that I haven’t blogged in a while, a very long while. I’ve been pretty busy lately (obviously lying) and the even bigger excuse, is that I just haven’t felt motivated, more like a writer’s block I think. HOWEVER, I’m going to be blogging everyday this week which is going to be a holiday themed series, until Friday as I am going on holiday, yay! Which leads me on to my post today…

The best part of a holiday I think, is the lead up to it. Getting new clothes, make up and my favourite part is the toiletries/beauty products. I find it so exciting and therapeutic going round Boots and choosing what you want to take with you on holiday. I told Adam that we need to make a list of all the things we need to take and his contribution was “toiletries.” WHAT TOILETRIES?!?! I NEED A FULL ON BREAK DOWN/BRAND/PRICE ETC?! So I was left to my own devices yesterday and these are a few of the things I picked up…

I love a good shower gel, especially on holiday, as I feel like the smell of chlorine just lingers around you all day, not to mention you end up having 500023020 showers a day because it’s so bloody hot. I picked up the Original Source, Strawberry and Pink Peppercorn. I didn’t even know you could even get pink peppercorns, but this smells so delicious and sweet, just like strawberry laces. I always take these on holiday, just because the smells sticks on your skin all day and I definitely know I will be using this all up during my two week stay. (Adam as well)

I find Boots pretty expensive for basic toiletries, even though I used to work there for five years, I didn’t understand why people would want to do their shopping there? However, I was pleasantly surprised when there was a 3 for 2 offer on skincare products. I’ve always loved Palmer’s products because they’re so good for dry skin, that you often get from frazzling in the heat. This Coconut Oil Body Lotion is the perfect size to last throughout my holiday and smells heavenly. It contains all natural ingredients and coconut oil which is the holy god for dry skin. I also noticed that it is Gluten Free. I’ve been reading a lot of forums about how skincare and make up products contain gluten in them, to my surprise, so I was pretty impressed with this! I do also have some aloe vera, but I think this will be particularly good after a nice cold shower, to leave my skin even more hydrated. The next product I got in this offer was my trusty micellar water, which I won’t go into too much detail about, as I do often mention it on my blog! The only thing is, I wish I got a smaller size, as I think it may way my case down a bit, but never mind, Adam will just have to have this in his case! Finally, I got some Nivea Facial Wash Gel, which I always take with me on holiday. I don’t usually use face gels too much, but they’re perfect for hungover holiday mornings when you just want to feel remotely alive.

The next product was some Eucerin Sun Protection Transparent Sun Spray which I have never tried before. It is specially targeted for people with sensitive skin and fry in the sun, like me. I know Eucerin do some amazing skincare products, so I’m very intrigued as to what this will offer me. I particularly like the transparent feature, and that it is a spray, as no one wants sand sticking to their greasy and sticky skin. I have also brought some Nivea sun sprays, but if anyone has used this sun spray, then let me know how you got on.

The last few products I got from Tesco, as Boots did seem particularly pricey on some of the basic essentials I needed, such as deodorant, shampoo, dry shampoo and cotton pads, bla bla bla. I decided to go for a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, just because we made a bit of a boo boo and only got 15 kgs of luggage each, oops. I’ve used this Pantene shampoo and conditioner before and it does make your hair super soft and nourished, and I know it will definitely save a few grams in my luggage! The dry shampoo, I have used before. It is a Tesco own brand and only costs a £1! I usually have the Batiste one, but I couldn’t find any offers on the brand, but as long as this does the job and covers my greasy roots, who cares?

I did purchase a whole lot more stuff, but I feel like these are the toiletry essentials any girl needs to take on her hols.

If anyone has anymore suggestions for some good travel items then feel free to let me know! Is anyone going anywhere nice this year?

Lots of Love,
